Morton's Steak House, The Oriental Singapore, 4th Storey, 5 Raffles Avenue, Marina Square, Singapore 039797. (T:+65 339 3740; F:+65 337 3763). This is one of the US steakhouse institutions and its just as good in Singapore. Highly recommended for any carnivores out there. Gary Williams is the Maitre'd. (April 2001)

Sheraton Towers, 39 Scotts Road, Singapore, 228230 (T: +65 737 6888, F: +65 737 1072). This hotel is quite close to Orchard Road where all the main shopping centers are but a fair taxi ride from the commercial center (5-10 min). Best thing here is the STSN internet connection in the room which is great. Beds and rooms are also very good, if a little small for Asian hotel standards. Very highly recommended. (May 2001)
The Oriental Singapore, 5 Raffles Avenue, Marina Square, Singapore 039797. (T:+65 338 0066, F:+65 339 9537). Good hotel with good sized rooms and showers. Beds very soft. Only gripe is that to get to any of the shopping complex areas, you need to take a flight of stairs down from the 4th floor - quite irritating if you're carrying lots of bags. (April 2001)
